I have a HP laptop with Windows XP Pro having a Cache and cookies problem. It started out after I update Win XP from MS site. Then log into a forum and then log out. When I tried to log in again, it comes back say can't log in because previous session is still alive.

I thought it's the site, not geekzone though fortunately, as it only happen when I'm there. Same problem on IE6, Firefox and Opera on my laptop. So I've contact the web programmer of the site, but no bug found.

But when I try it on my desktop which has Win XP Pro - have exactly the same OS, Anti-Virus, web browsers, on board, works without a single problem.

Only time I can log in and log out and log back in is to clear the cache and cookies. Which is a pain! :(

I know in Firefox I can delete a selected cookies which mean I can delete one from that site. But to test a webpage I need both IE and Opera to work too. And clearing, deleting cookies and cache everytime is not a practical solution.

Is there anything I can do to stop this error?

Could it be that your provider has a transparent proxy and it's causing this problem? Or perhaps you have an AV with some URL filtering functionality (using proxy on your PC)? Avast and a couple of other software do this, also some ad blocking software...

No Proxy on the laptop nor desktop, both machine connect to Woosh wireless. When turn AV off, still have the same problem on Laptop but not desktop. Turn AV on, laptop has problem not desktop.

Turn Firewall off, just for this test, laptop has problem not desktop.

Test on my flatmate's laptop, also connect to Woosh, no problem.

So much be something on my laptop. And just started to happen like this after the new update were installed. But I guess it's too late to restore the system setting.
