i brought my son a laptop to play his pc games on, and now i have to increase the ram on it, can anyone tell me what type of ram i buy for a hp compaq 2200, thank you

He will love you forever for getting an extra 1GB, but 512MB on top of whatever he has now will also make a big difference.

Last time i did this exercise, DSE installed the ram for me at no extra cost (and I hadnt bought the laptop from there either).

That is desktop memory. You will need a SODIMM.

You will get the ram a lot cheaper online from somewhere like www.pp.co.nz or www.ascent.co.nz - dse are rather expensive and only stock one or two makes.

The best thing would be to check www.kingston.com for the laptop model and get the product code for the correct OEM part, you will need this or at least the specifications - ie DDR1 or 2 and speed before you do anything.

... is the SODIMM version for laptops. But yes - shop around...

Its easy to install, so ask here for help before paying anybody to install it...
