I see this machine is apparently already available in NZ - they're calling it the VGNUX17GP (why do Sony (and others) often rename devices for sale here??).
Have a look at the PDF brochure:
http://vaio-online.sony.com/prod_info/vgn-ux17gp/vgn-ux17gp.pdf

The picture on the second page looks remarkably like Mission Bay, looking out toward Rangitoto....!!?

Has anyone played with this machine in "real life" - is the screen simply too small??  Cheers,  Matt...

i quite like it but some critics said the thumbboard is hard to use, especially if the inner part of the keys.

and core solo, is kinda underpower isnt it? but then again UMPCs are core solo too.... it will be hard to choose between Samsung Q1 Flash and this...

Easy: this one is available here, the Samsung Q1 (non-flash) is only available in the USA. Same reason why I bought the Roomba instead of the Trilobite.

We saw Trilobite in chch's Harvey Norman, though i think they only stock iRobot now too...

Another thing that i hope both Ultra PC and UMPC have is, PCMCIA slot... so i can have my UMTS card plugged in for true portable mobile PC, no, not PocketPC but an actual XP Pro+UMTS! Woohoo... hehe
