I posted on this forum a couple of months agao about what can only be described as a retail/ finance scam on laptop battery power, run by Bond and Bond and Flexi Lease. All the sales reps and even the HP webiste say battery lasts 5 hours plus, but only lasts an hour when being used for what it is supposed ot be used for- multi media. None of them take any responsibility, passing the buck etc.
That post seems to have comepletely dissappeared.
One would hope this forum is not trying to pretect (potential) large corporate sponsors at the expense of 'Geek' consumers?
Lets see if this one dissappears also.
If not I will try and post the (completely true) story again.
I guess if this board is monitored in that fashion, and for that cause, it is long since  time for a new one!
Cheers
James

Hi James,

We regularly moderate teh forums here on geekzone, and as I am sure you have read the FUG as you have now signed up twice, we do not allow the forums to be used as a soapbox. Now I cannot remember the specifics, but if we feel posts or threads do not mee the FUG that all users must accept and follow, we will edit/remove/moderate the posts, we may also ban users.
I assume, as you are posting as a new users, you account was possibly de-activated. I suggest you contact freitasm, the admin, in regards to your post and your account. As avoiding a ban can also result in beign banned again.

Finally, we do not protect 'corporate sponsors' and will not remove posts just because xyz organise have asked us too. However, this is a privately run forum, and as such we have the final say in what can/cannot be posted.

yes i remember that one. pity they advertised the enormous battery life that was inaccurate. but calling it a scam i think is a bit extreme. false information with intent to mislead ... maybe. but most likely unintentional oversight.

it is possible that the advertised battery life was for i5 processor doing non-video internet surfing on underclocked CPU ("power saver mode") and fully dimmed LCD. possibly. the problem was they sold the model with an i7 processor but did not revise the battery life.

so -

what's the outcome? settled?

I have banned the OP because this kind of mindless accusation is exactly what we don't need here.
