Hi all,

This has probably been mentioned before but I thought I'd raise it again as I just recently received a new battery for an HP laptop via this scheme.  Apparently some batteries explode and burst into flames, so it's worth a look.

If you have an HP laptop then you might want to consider heading to the site above and entering your details.  It takes maybe 5 minutes to go through and on a good day (or bad day perhaps?!) you will get a free laptop battery pack out of this.

Cheers.

Thanks for this. Wasn't aware at all of this issue. Will check my older laptop tonight. Fingers crossed for a free battery replacement as the old one is failing miserably.

Wow, my 8yo laptop was on the list!
Shame it has no screen since 1 month after the warranty ran out (I didn't know much about the CGA then).

And the battery has no bloody barcode/serial number on it!

Cool, hoped it would be useful to someone.

So far I'm 1 from 2, the second laptop wasn't on the list.

Just letting people know that it's real, and working now, as in July 2011 when I got my replacement one sent for a fairly old laptop really.

The question is, will I ethically sell the old one on trademe, knowing full well that yes it was working fine, but it technically has been identified as having the potential to explode....?!
