I would like to know if a Kindle can browse the net, such as look through GZ forums, look through Trademe, etc?
Also whether I can use to read gmail emails?

I love e-ink screens, I used to have a Motorola F3 (wish I still did), and I played with a Kindle briefly 3 years ago, but I don't read books at all, so they are of no use to me really, but I thought if I could use one to read emails and monitor trademe auctions and read this site, well then I would buy one.

Specifically looking at this model, however would consider others if others have functionality I'm after if this one doesn't...

Thank you :)

I have a paper 3 kindle and you can use it to browse websites, but the refresh rate is pretty crap.. it won't do complex apps like gmail/whatsapp/telegram/etc.

I wouldn't buy one just to browse TM/GZ. You're better off with an android tablet or ipad.

They can do a few things like that, but they're rubbish at it. They're really a single purpose device, they let you read e-books. Anything else should be considered emergency use only IMHO.

Not sure if it's a slow screen or slow processor that makes it impractical. Battery life is great reading books though.
