Does anyone have a handle on the availability of Amazon ebooks to NZ readers of the Kindle yet?  I have a sub with Audible.com for audible books which I download onto my MP3 player.  The newly-released contemporary fiction titles I want to read are more often than not "not available in my geographical zone".  Are we going to have the same issue with Amazon ebooks, due to restrictions put on ebooks by the publishers?  Is there any way one can get around the issue, and thereby have the same access to all books available to US readers?

You can easily get around that by having two accounts - one with a US address, and the New Zealand one. You use the New Zealand one to "gift" vouchers to the other one.

Also moved this to the correct forum.

Thank you for the response, and my apologies for my blunder.  First time user and I did try to find out how to post my question but couldn't figure it out.  What should I have done?  I am of the wrong generation I think.

No problem, I've moved it... You just have to go to the forums list page, find the forum where you want to post and then create the new topic.

"Introductions" is just for that, introduction posts, not for general discussions.

Back on topic, do you still have any questions about how to do the Kindle eBook gift voucher?

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out now.  Might even be able to do the same thing with Audible.com too.

I am confused having read other comments re how the gift thing works.  Do I need to have 2 different email addresses for each Amazon account?  I already have an xtra email address so would I need to set up another from a different ISP?

You need TWO email address, one for each account. On the New Zealand accoun you will add your credit card with local address. In your "US" account you won't add any credit card but need a US address.

Then use the NZ account to buy a gift card, send to yourself, and load it into your other account. You can't add a credit card to the US account, because it will automatically change it to the address in the credit card.

Sorry to be so dumb, but it's the email bit I don't get - do you need 2 different email addresses from different ISPs, or are 2 alias addresses from the same ISP going to work?

So do you have to sign in and out of each seperate account on the Kindle?

I.e. I have a Kindle with my Australian registered Amazon account but I want to buy The Facebook Effect which is not available to Australian customers, is there any way to buy this book and get it into my main Kindle account with the rest of my books (or will I have to switch to a seperate account on the device?)?

Hi, I've just bought a Kindle from Amazon.com

I have used both .com and .uk for purchases with my UK and NZ Visa cards.

I have set up a new account with .com with a new email address and no credit cards registered, but even if I navigate through a US proxy server, I keep getting navigated back to the login page. I put my details in again, but the login page comes up again. It won't let me buy anything, or manage my account, or apply a gift code.

I downloaded Kindle for PC, and got a sample sent, but I couldn't buy it. My region shows and USA in the top left hand corner, but I can't get any further.

Please can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Yes. Email the publisher/author and tell them you're pirating their stuff because amazon/the publisher isn't letting you buy it. Download the DRM/region free ebook from torrent. Done.

Mauricio any thoughts on this one?

changing to the US store as opposed to nz is better anyway since ebooks are cheaper and the US amazon store has a much better range.

i had a browse thru the NZ store... its really bad for finding books are arent in the top 100 -_- bit of an exaggeration but im sure many will agree US store is much better

Does that work though? I think you need to VPN your traffic now because if you are using a NZ IP address they will clamp down on you right?
