Audidude: What would be really interesting would be feedback from someone who has had a K3 or K4 and who now has a Touch. The screens are apparently almost indistinguishable from each other and that person would be able to give us a good hands-on report on the comparison, and particularly on how they have found the Touch in terms of the quality of the screen implementation. There's plenty in the reviews online but a local geekzone report would be great.

I bought a K3 in 2010 and just bought another Kindle Touch during Xmas last year out of curiosity.
To be honest, cant see any difference between them
It really depends on whether you prefer touch screen or keyboard for typing

The screens are identical in terms of the eInk application.
How do you find the accuracy and responsiveness of the Touch screen? And is page turning and navigation around the control screens easier and slicker than the K3?

Cheers

I got my kindle touch on saturday, five days after ordering, via Dhl US. Very impressed with it. The browser works well and i have used it to send email from my hotmail account (mobile version works best). I find the touch screen very responsive and am very pleased with it so far. I did some reading on it out in full sunshine today and the screen is just amazing.

The browser really is a bonus as i was just after a reader. It comes preloaded with web bookmarks such as bbc and google and all work well. Well recommended.

Really accurate and responsive screen
Page turn speed is slightly faster than K3
The battery lasted me about 3 weeks
But around 1 week and a half for a friend who likes listening to mp3 while reading
The only downside is it is touch screen, therefore you won't find the normal page turning buttons on the side of the kindle like the previous versions.

Thks guys, good feedback and the touch sounds up to the mark.

My K4 has just died - been online and phone to Amazon support who are fantastic and after another call from them tonight they will be replacing my unit which has been hard reset several times but continues to lockup.

Very very impressed with their product support so far. Will keep you updated.

Cheers

Sunday night 10PM: service rep rang me back at exactly the time he said he would (from US). The Kindle had died again but mysteriously rebooted just before he rang and was working fine for the moment. However he said enough was enough and they'd ship a new unit.

Monday morning: the battery is not charging now and this morning the screen locked again and wouldn't reboot.

They emailed me labels to attach to the return unit packaging (which I have kept) for pre-paid courier return.

The replacement unit cleared Auckland customs 14:50hrs today (Wednesday), should have it in hand 1st thing tomorrow morning.

Fantastic product backup and service. Well done Amazon!

Ordered another Kindle Touch directly on Tuesday. Still hasn't shipped yet. Does it usually take this long? I thought they were pretty quick about it.

I ordered one on Monday morning - shipped yesterday, but got an email saying sorry for the delay. Seems to have moved pretty quickly since they sent it according to the tracking

Delivered 9AM Thursday - that's original Kindle delivered, used 2 days, referred to Amazon service, replacement Kindle delivered - all in 6 days.

New one working perfectly. Reading Steve Jobs' biography - irony?? Interesting that when the iPad was released everyone said that was the end of the Kindle and Amazon were mad to announce a Kindle 2 at the same time. Like saying that when Oranges become available people will stop eating Apples - or vice versa if you prefer ;)

Asked Dick Smith today when stocks of Kindle available again - mid-March......'nuff said!
