I had a problem with my ADSL connection a few months back where it slowed down to virtually unusable speeds. (have splitter installed, new house).

A technician fixed something in the whisper cabinet and my sync speed went up to ~23,000kbps but after a few days it reduced to ~20,000kbps (my pre-fix speed too).

Being a bit interested in this, I was wondering if it were possible to regain the 23,000kbps speed.

This is the modem status page...

DSL Details
Modem Type: Built in modem - ADSL
DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)

DSLAM Vendor Information Country: {46336} Vendor: {IKNS} Specific: {256 }

Uncanceled Echo: -20.3 dB Ok
VCXO Frequency Offset: -67.1 ppm Ok
Final Receive Gain: -10.7 dB Ok
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones: 0 Ok
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok

And this is the diagnostic page....
GENERAL
Downstream Rate Cap: 29552 kbps
Downstream Atten. at 300kHz: 0.4 dB
Impulse noise protection: 0.00
Delay of latency path:0.04 ms

I have read somewhere on this website that telecom can put you on different profiles and I asked them on the phone about this but they didn't know what I was talking about so no luck there.

Is it possible to increase my speed based on the above connection stats?  Or, am I at max speed and the previous speed boost was due to some testing they were doing?

You can't ask that only Peter or I can

The OP is almost on top of a cabinet no idea why they require faster speed bit OTT

I am the BDFL. I can ask anything. But if the OP has more than 350 posts here they should know to post this information straight in the first post ;)

You are correct, and I did say I had a splitter installed in the first sentence :)

First lines says "have splitter installed" so I guess he means master splitter installed. Perhaps OP can confirm this splitter is a wired in master, and not just a plug in?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

I'm only asking because my speed was faster but dropped; they gave me a taste of faster speeds then took it away .

I know the current speed is still great and I am happy with that but I am the type of person who likes to tweak settings to achieve the best possible performance :)

eg, I found out you don't muck around with the vci setting you get 0 speed then :)

I'll probably move to UFB in a few months anyway but still interested in this.

I saw a graph on GZ that said at my distance I should sync at 24,000kbps.

I'll change to fibre sometime this year I expect.

I'm just curious and had a little spare time this evening.

Simple answer is no, the conservative Chorus 12dB noise margin dictates the sync speed.

I already asked telecom about the ADSL 'profile' but they didn't know what I was talking about.
