Telecom have released their Galaxy S4 pre-order special. Does this mean they are about to launch their 4G network? Clearly sates "4G LTE compatible".

So when PeterReader who has heard the 4G LTE hype around the Vodafone launch, sees this deal and says "That's a sweet 4G deal, I'm in!" What happens if he has no 4G when his flash new phone (that is 4G LTE compatible) arrives?

So either Telecom are about to launch 4G, or they have made a blunder by not notarising that this phone will not actually be able to use 4G on Telecom at time of release of this phone.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Advising a handset is 4G / LTE compatible does not really mean a carrier has to support it from the network side, The handset is GSM / 2G compatible as well and Telecom have no 2G / GSM sites

Hope they are building a lot more sites and they still need to pick a vendor as I understand

Agree, but you still have to be careful with the way you promote your products. If it was just amongst the tech specs with all the other features, than that's fine; but having it jump out at you in the first few lines of their promotion is an other story.

And is this new LTE network going to be ALU based, or has someone else taken Telecoms fancy?

Their network or somebody else's? Smile

Management rights for the 700MHz band don't commence until the 1st January 2014 so even if Telecom, Vodafone or 2degrees were to acquire rights for this band they wouldn't legally be allowed to use it until then.

Vodafone have a massive head start on any Telecom network, they need to select a vendor first.. And if that vendor isn't their current vendor they also need to decide if they're going to replace the existing 3G network at the same time and move to a single vendor single RAN solution like Vodafone have.

Call Ericsson about Telecom's new network.

Oh, and a phone being "LTE compatible" doesn't mean the network is launching it NOW. It only means users can have the peace of mind knowing WHEN it happens their shiny new smartphone will be there for them.

Unlike the Nokia Lumia 920 which has LTE disabled on the Telecom version.

What are these converters you speak of? Convert WCDMA to LTE?
