Good to know the date of the 28th confirmed.

Will fit in nicely with the migration (1 Apr) and move-in dates (Q3 Apr) for us.

Enquired about BoF->UFB conversion timeframe, and current provider was even so kind to namedrop 2 other potential providers that may be able to confirm the date closer.. which is largely unheard of in this competitive world :)

Now this adds a third, And subsequent easy-to-handover billing.

Any word on if/how they intend on providing voice to the Fibre only areas, I assume it will be a continuation of the current ISAM-V Wellington RAN handling but somehow via the fibre ONT instead.

One would assume it will be straight back into a NEAX via the VoIP linecards.

Johnk: looking forward to more info on telecom VDSL plans, no fiber for me for a few years.

Indeed. I wonder how they're going to price their plans in comparison to Snap and the other smaller ISP's that offer VDSL.

It's good to see that more ISPs getting into UFB. More competition and choices has gotta be good for the consumer.

Good thing that telecom are finally moving on VDSL. Wonder when the other ISPs will get their consumer offerings out.

This is great news. Any word on the telecom supplied vdsl hardware or will that be announced on the 27th too?

Looking forward to Wednesday.

This will determine whether my future continues with telecom.

If Telecoms UFB plans are not competitive with Orcon/Snap then sadly it will be sayonara.

I wonder how many people have been delaying until telecom announces their UFB plans to avoid being tied into a contract. Maybe ufb uptake will begin to accelerate after telecom lays down their cards.

This will be awesome. People are finally going to hear about VDSL. Advertising is something the small ISPs lack so people dont get to hear the awesomeness that is available.

About 3 years ago, just as FTTN was happening, we had a talk with some guys at Telecom/Chorus who were showing us what they intended to use for vdsl installs. Was a Thomson gateway with built in ATA and a few other things. The thing I thought was cool was that it was truly a 'full install'. A connection would be a splitter install, wiring in the ata and ethernet cabling to the TV if required. Customers could then ask while we were on site if they wanted more cabling done. It was going to be a time consuming thing but it meant every connection could be guaranteed to a high standard as opposed to these self installs you see now.

Do you have ink to tweet? I understood vdsl will not be launching for some months.
