I've been looking for a case for mine, so it's nice to see accessories are starting to show up for it.

Hi - The reason I've asked for this thread to be unlocked is because I'm interested in buying the Y300. So I'd like to ask if anyone has any experience or knowledge of the camera. In the specs it states that it's a 5 megapixel camera, but no mention of it lens, etc. I'm not expecting it to take great photos, but wonder if anyone has an opinion of its capabilities. Thanks, b

joutei: pretty good value @ $199 .
Had a quick play in store

Nice phone , user interface is abit ugly. A launcher can change this though.
dual core + ICS , cant really go wrong with the price aswell.

And 24 month factory warranty..

All phones bought from a Telecom store come with a 24mo warranty (except iPhones) now.

I've had a play, for $200 it's awesome.

If you know anyone in the UK who can send you one over, they are currently NZD135 unlocked at the Carphone Warehouse.

It's most likely the European version that won't work on Telecom  here..

But it will on 2degrees, vodafone etc. Sorry got to this thread by a google search - thought it was Android thread, I didn't realise it was a Telecom one. Sorry.

No problem.  I just wish all these fone were full multiband rather than two models for different markets.  Guess it comes down to coast..

Well ... I've answered my own question. I bought the phone and not only has it been easy to set-up and use, the camera takes good, clear photos. Not great photos, but then I'm not a great photographer. However the photos I took of a magazine ad and a recipe in another magazine came out crisp and clear.

Naturally I don't expect any depth of field in photos of subjects that aren't nearby, but I've got a couple of digital cameras for that kind of shooting.

How does it compare to say, a Galaxy 4 or an iPhone? Couldn't tell you. But for a 5pxl phone camera is all I need at the moment.

How much real storage does the phone have available? Ive been caught out on the totally rubbish amount in the 2degrees smart silver, and my old first tiny galaxy 5. Just need a phone to take my other sims in when I am out and check my alternat google accounts etc on. The silver is no good because I cant even update the stock apps on it.

Is it split into SD and internal, and how much is left with all the factory stuff on it?

My Y3000 has 2.1GB left on the 4GB internal storage, which includes factory ringtones, themes, images, etc. Everything else is stored on the 32GB Micro SD card which has 29.71GB free. Then I haven't taken many photos, loaded any music, etc.

It's a good fone for what you pay for but the biggest headache for my mother- in-law is this

"When you have 3G and WiFi both turned on and leave the WiFi zone 3G gets turned off until you unlock by going OK to the popup that says something like " You have left the WiFi zone and you will need to use data, press OK to turn on data" If you get a call and swipe to unlock you can end up canceling this popup and data is then turned off until you manually turn it back on again so you won't get anything that uses data like MMS, WhatsApp etc"

I took the plunge and bought one of these for my wife a couple of weeks ago.

Up until now she has resisted all my attempts to get her using a smartphone but she loves it. I have to say I've been really impressed and have recommended it to a couple of friends who were also looking for an entry level smartphone.

Considering its $200 and you can have it interest free for 12 months, I think its a bargain.
