I'm hoping someone out there might know what is Telecom's normal procedure for setting the WEP security code on D-Link routers installed by them.

We are staying with some friends for the weekend and they have a D-Link DSL-604T wireless broadband router which was installed by Telecom as part of their ADSL installation.

According to recommended practice, the tech. has activated WEP security, but there is no record anywhere of what security code he has used.

I have looked in the boxes that came with the router and wireless network card for our friends laptop, for stickers on the DSL-604T etc, etc.  I would have thought that the tech. should have left a record of the security code SOMEWHERE...

Does anybody know what is the normal procedure for this type of installation, and/or where I could look for the security code?

Using Dialup is not a happy experience...

yes, Login to the router

type in (or Depending on the Router and look under Wireless on the left hand side.

EDIT: you'll have to use Ethernet or USB to get into the page i'd say.

cat-mince: yes, Login to the router

type in (or

OK, looks like the one (connected via Ethernet).

But it's asking for a User Name & Password and our friend has NO IDEA about any of this sort of stuff.

Is there a default User Name & Password that Telecom use for this type of router?

Brilliant -- Thanks Dan Smile

That got me in and then I just had to sniff out the Network Key via the HTML Source Code of the "Wireless" page.

Thanks again, I appreciate it heaps.  This will avoid running for a whole weekend on Dialup Cool
