Chorus contractor left about 15 minutes ago. Just swapped out the old ADSL filter for a new xDSL filter. No cabling replaced so still on old '6 way' cable (as it used to be called) and the old BT jack. Now we just wait for the job to be signed off I guess!

Still no internet for me, same error.  Just called 0800 22 55 98 and spoken with a number of people from different teams and now they will check with Chorus.
I am not happy...

By the sounds of your problem this is something that would have happened with any provider you chose, could you please PM me your landline number, contact number and address and I'll get somebody to look at it for you.

PM sent, thanks!

What are the attenuation max to get VDSL? I realise that I'm in a fringe area, however the Telecom payphone WiFi outside seems VDSL-fed but the address checker seems to be unsure of my address (I'm in an apartment so there's a few number variations...)

Hmm.. Well after initially connecting fine (PPPoE), I'm no longer connected at all. Hopefully this doesn't last long or I won't be getting much work done tonight!

Installer turned up at the early end of the 12-5pm timeframe, nice.
Turns out telecom dispatched wrong modem (got the white technicolour ADSL one) so now have to wait til next Saturday before I can get an install, plus have to muck around sending the wrong one back.
Pretty peeved as missus stayed home from work to meet the Chorus techie, and means we'll have to do the same next weekend.
Grrrrrr.....

I must say that's the first time I have ever heard of that happening! You're rather special :) But, on behalf our our team I apologize for this.

No worries dude :) Enjoy your VDSL.

For the others out there that had VDSL connect, then disconnect today (new installs within 24hrs) we are currently working on it and should have things sorted shortly, very sorry about the inconvenience guys!

I'm surprised the installers don't keep a spare with them, for troubleshooting etc in case of one that's DOA, misplaced, didn't arrive etc.

Just got mine connected today. TG589 was nice and easy to set up as a dumb bridge, and PPPoE came straight up on my RouterOS box, and with my static IP... Initially was sitting at 24Mbit down/1Mbit up (I'd imagine the BRAS was still set for ADSL2+), but a few hours later it's now at 27/8.

Hopefully it goes up over the next 10 days.

Unfortunately my POTS isn't working anymore. Not a huge problem, but I'm hoping they don't break the DSL when they fix it

That would be a bit hard for Chorus to handle. Since it would require Telecom to supply each Chorus installer with a modem and to track serial numbers for them all. I have to say the "Telecom logistics machine" is an insanely well oiled machine, so it's quite a surprise to me that it happened. But I am sure after calling the bbhd they will have another one on its way and it is just unfortunate the installer couldn't be booked sooner to do the job. I would have thought it would have made sense to do the master filter install at that time since the next visit would have been rejumper at the exchange and line test with the new modem and you would have been away.

But I am sure the new one will turn up shortly and I would just get it plugged in to replace your existing modem so you know it works. Then the vdsl change should go pretty smoothly after that.

Yes the machine is very well oiled. After a hiccough with the modem delivery last week I have been sent two modems - one is the vdsl one but the second is a ufb modem. Called Telecom 123 and they advised that I keep it and ask the installer who is scheduled for Saturday morning what to do with it. Not certain that this advice is correct however will see what happens. Maybe that I will ready for when fibre is available.
