Hi

Has anyone got this to work?
I have tried to set this up using POP3.xtra.co.nz but no luck.
I get a error saying "having problems connection to POP3.xtra.co.nz"
passwords and user name are correct.

Do xtra use another pop server? Let me know if any one has got it to work.
thanks

Rob

Perhaps you ticked use SSL, have you tried disabling this and ensuring it is trying to use port 110?

I just recreated the same problem you have.

Interestingly I solved it by doing the exact opposite as to what I suggested earlier

Turn on SSL and change to port 995 :)

thanks i just had a look at xtra's web site and it says it cost $2 a month and you need to use pop3r.xtra.co.nz
but i got it to work using ssl port 995 and just the normal pop and did not have to call xtra to enable..

My ISP address is worthless to me, I never use it, in case i switch ISPs one day. I have my own domain instead. I just have all my email from Xtra set to forward to my actual address, and then delete from the Xtra inbox.

I dont know why I even bother having that. The only mail I get on that address is spam...

Just a different take on managing ISP mail accounts. Nice to see a workaround for off-network mail retrieval. Its a just a bit of a scam to charge $2 IMHO to allow a use to get their email from anywhere - after all, thats what email is all about really...

Yea well I accidentally found that little loophole, didn't even realise that they normally charge $2 for it. In any case if the workaround stops working as tony says you can just setup email forwarding in your xtra email settings
