So I been needing some mobile internet access while at work, for a while now been tethering the laptop to my personal smartphone and using the data, but at the point that work should really be supplying me with the internet access as it is work related activities. Now the work phone is not a smartphone, it can do internet but it's a bit like a horse and cart on the highway.

So work gave me to use a Vodafone K3715 Vodem with a Telecom sim in it (our company's provider is telecom), so just trying to see if I can actually get this to work as it keeps on saying please insert correct sim - this is exactly what I expected to happen :(

So has anyone had any success in getting one of these to work with a telecom sim? Or do I go back to work and get them to get a T-stick?

If it's saying please insert sim then

- You haven't installed the software correctly on your computer
- The software isn't compatible with your version of OS
- The data card is sim-locked (unlikely)
- The sim card is dodgy (tried another sim?)

Often the older cards don't work on Win8 and there are known 32/64bit issues.

So I would try a newer data card that preferably support WCDMA850, as the K3715 doesn't from my understanding.

K3715 I don't think it supports 3G 850Mhz

Thanks for your quick reply, I've given it a go with the sim (VF) from my personal phone, it works great, but back in the same position of using my personal data for work which doesn't work for me. So it's eliminated the software side of things, I'm running win7/64 pro on the laptop, so the alternatives are it's sim locked or because of it's age it doesn't support the likely frequencies (most likely the answer).

So looks like the solve is a T-Stick (typical work trying to get away with things on the cheap)
