Just noticed Telecom has replaced its VDSL2 modem offering,.  Gone is the Technicolor TG589vn V2 and the new one is a Huawei HG630b.

Anyone using the new Huawei VDSL2 modem now, any good?

I wonder if those of us who were sent the Technicolors that have compatibility issues with Windows 8.1 will be able to request a swap

I was sent one of these modems early Jan to replace a faulty Technicolor modem.
I must say its not very user friendly. Had trouble opening ports etc and I noticed the Line Attenuation shot up a bit when authenticating with xdsl.... Ended up swapping it back for another Technicolor Modem and have no problems since...

Wow, Much Huawei like Vodafone modems. (For those who dont get it google "Doge")

Good to see Telecom has joined in on our Huawei bandwagon :)
Bumma it doesnt have Gigabit Ethernet. I think the HG659 that we use is fairly similar specs just a bit higher. (For those who were asking)

yep i got issued a new HG630b router. im on 30/10 fibre.
the router doesn't have GB ethernet port so i'd like to know what if telecom offers anything over 100Mbps, like 200Mbps + speed how am i supposed to benefit from it ?

would telecom issue a router that has 1GB ethernet ports.

im mentioned before entering a post!

its almost like you know i would have picked this post to enter!

i find this very interesting, in terms of, why telecom dropped the other modem. purely from a standpoint of personally having an argument for a good 20 mins about why i disliked the older modem, and that the tech was extremely short-sighted to proclaim it to be the "best modem"

Is it possible to buy that modem from Vodafone I can't find it in stores and it seems like a good one, I'm in desperate need of a new modem since mine is about to die.

Switch to Huawei modem has been mandated by the GCSB so they can deny it is them spying on New Zealanders

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Umm not exactly. You kinda need to be a customer of ours. Ill ask the Hardware guys.

Edit, TBH it is for VF customers, You cant even buy one if you have ADSL. If you have a buddy on VDSL they might be able to purchase a second.

Doubt it, the requirements put forward from that project were pretty high for a modem for the masses.
