KenBNZ: Noticed my iPhone 4s is alternating between Telecom and Spark Network IDs. Also seems to be running hot and draining the battery. Not chugging through (billable) data according to my usage meter but feels like it's not happy with the network. Maybe spending a lot of time polling to register Telecom or Spark - should be the same? The guy in the Tele----   SPARK  shop noticed his iPhone doing the same - though not dropping his battery as much. Anyone else experiencing same?

Mines keeps flicking back to Telecom NZ too. There will be a carrier update out soon which hardcodes the carrier banner to Spark NZ (with iOS 8 if not before).

Don't think overheating issue is related though, try closing all your apps manually and doing a restart.

Im confused why they need a carrier update instead of just making the towers broadcast the correct name..

Hi as I stated above some phones read the service provider name from the SIM and in the case of the iPhone from the carrier bundle + network. Over the air updates will address this (SIM) and carrier bundle likely to be with IOS8, as devs can see with the beta.

I notice since the name change that we can not login and check our work ADSL usage using the ADSL login  of username.xadsl.  Get user name or password wrong.  Worked up to last Thursday..  Home usage check works fine..

Edit: I did find the answer here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=151048&page_no=1  But it won't work in a program called "Traffic Usage Checker"   which still give an authentication error..

You need the latest version of TUC

If you have to run heating in winter, you don’t own enough computers.

One for the web guys... http://www.spark.co.nz/shop/mobile/sim/telecom-sim-card-options.html?servicePlanId=ServicePlan005 still says Telecom.

Edit: When viewing your Cart, it still lists "TNZ Standard delivery".

Have you signed up for MySpark and/or can login to it? Or a business customer?

The admin has made the changes necessary for Spark, and its working again for me too.

It's not Sparks problem as its not their program, so probably best to go post on the forum on tuc.co.nz and the guys there will be able to help

There's a phone box around the corner from my house. It still says "Telecom" on the logo as of today.
