One CSR told me that the system is not showing the insufficient slots issue, apparrently broadband is not available, period...
I sat there in silence for a good minute, wasn't able to process that information in my head.

sounds like a very odd situation.. flick PL the details he asked for and im sure he will get you sorted.

since its a VDSL area, i would expect there not to be port waiters.

technicaljoe: Hi Steve,

It's Pippen Court in Henderson, a cul-de-sac.

Would appreciate your thoughts/comments :)

Cheers

Joseph

There are no issues getting broadband there, it's serviced by the HSN/EP cabinet, capable of VDSL2 and there are certainly plenty of houses with broadband.

The problem is likely to be the naming convention of CT in the Chorus system catching them out. If Telecom can't help you there are plenty of other ISP's who will be able to connect them!

Sorry I got slammed on Friday so couldn't look into it.  It does look services by a ISAM so there should be sufficient ports (unless you are a port waitier).

I've flicked an email to the Broadband folks and see what the story is.

Please keep us posted, I'd be curious to know what what the outcome of this one was (and the reason why they were told they couldn't get it).

cbrpilot: It's an old house ~15 years old I believe, and situated in an established area with similar age houses.  It's quite interesting that each CSR said to me that they simply can't get broadband, as in zip, nada, zilch...  They said it's not available in that street at all...  I even asked is that like waitlist type of unavailable or something else, they told me to call Chorus... o_O

My pick (as I mentioned above) is because of the address type being a Court but appearing in the Chorus system as CT and it not correctly matching these. If you try the automated systems of several ISPs they all say negative and finding that address in Wireline also poses problems, until you try a different way locate it.

Thanks Steve, that sounds plausible, Name & Addressing is one of the worst implemented/maintained system in most enterprise...

It's interesting that all CSRs I've spoken with gave up so quickly without attempting to locate the property...  Maybe they should accept DP ID as an alternative?

Does it have a working copper phone line?
If the copper records in Chorus are incorrect, then our prequalificaiton engine will not give a correct result.  I.e. garbage in, garbage out.
I'm not sure if Peter has come back to you yet, but requesting a manual prequal through us is an option where we believe we are not getting good Chorus results.

My views are my own, and may not necessarily represent those of my employer.

The manual prequal is currently being done. Hopefully find out from Chorus tomorrow.

Just want to give additional credits to the team at Telecom who help out on Geekzone.
This is the second time I've been helped, and each time with prompt and helpful response.

And also everyone who joined in with suggestions and ideas, thank you all :)
