Had a few call this morning about email not working, although knowing some of these people they've probably entered what they thought was their password and got it wrong ;-)

Email Issue - Resolved

At this time Yahoo!/Xtra mail access is fully restored for all customers:

  • All customers affected will now be able to access their Yahoo!/Xtra Mail accounts via webmail. Customers will be able to log into their accounts, and send and receive messages.
  • Access via third party clients, such as Microsoft Outlook has been fully restored. Customers will be able to send and receive emails via mail clients.
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused.

I have just had another popup box appear to say it was temporarily unavailable, but pressed ok, and it worked. So something is still not right with telecom/ yahoo/xtra.

Was trying to reset some folks passwords who had typed the wrong one into their email client when the box popped up, and surprise surprise that was stuffed too. So helpdesk wait it was.

I was told to reduce the amount of times my account checks the server, down to 15 minutes, but these days you expect to check email more often than that. I don't think telecom are all that intereted in the problem, or it is in the too hard basket trying to deal with yahoo to fix it

never had a problem before checking emails at any time interval.. sometimes right after

however pop peeper just check for headers

I doubt 5min intervals would be a issue alone 15min

Makes you wonder if their servers aren't overloaded with accounts. I run about 4 different email addresses each checking the server every few minutes with different providers, and Telecoms is the only one that pops up with the login and unavailable server error a few times a day.

maybe yahoo has made it so it only added new emails to your account every 15mins so checking sooner has no benefit?

but why use yahoos over loaded servers .. how hard is it to setup a few server boxes with a mail server?

I bet dot com could do it for them :)

Just had another series of  login popup boxs appear just now, so Telecoms email is  down again, with the same error message.

I was told by telecom staff that their email system quote  'can be fussy at times' . So it obviously has problems that they are aware of. The question is whether they have asked their provided yahoo to fix it.

Unfortunately I have always used it, the problem is getting more cards printed, changing the website etc. etc.
