No it can't have been. because 1. it doesn't do it on vodafone, 2. it happened with IVRs also so not actual people at the other end.

Wow, you managed to get an automated system to hang up on you!?! ;)

ROFLMAO!

This is funny. In Tauranga I still think Telecom has superb coverage than Vodafone. However, I visited Auckland hospital mortuary recently and found no coverage for Telecom. Almost full bar for Vodafone and 2degrees.

andrewNZ: I'm confused too. The main website doesn't reflect these changes, it would be nice to know what exactly is happening here.

This is why I left Telecom.

I think their website is just bad. There is no effort to make it better or on par with the other two telcos. I keep hearing that 'changes are coming', but nothing has happen. You still need to speak to customer service to get your credit card added for automatic payment!

It seems like this is a minor upgrade on the current plans to beat the 2degrees offering.

I'm not sure about you, but a lack of communication around an unannounced plan upgrade I don't feel is something to criticize for.

In fact letting me know in advance of the announcement i would value as a customer. An announcement is clearly coming, until then, existing customers have been given a small tap on the shoulder letting them know in advance.

So it looks like we're seeing 250mb more data, anyone have details of the other plans aside from the $39 and $69 ones?

I welcome the competition, the more data the better.

My dilemma is the 2D, for $39 a month I can have 400min AU/NZ + 1.5GB data both of which carryover, i think Telecom is a great provider but I think it might be time for me to give 2D another chance

  • Ultra $39/$49 Plans get 400mins and 1.25GB
    (Previously: 300mins and 1GB)
  • Ultra $59/$69 Plans get 600mins and 1.5GB
    (Previously: 500mins and 1.25GB)

Not really over the moon about the new plan. An extra 100 minutes and extra 250MB of data. I probably won't use either of that, I would have preferred a Spotify upgrade.

I wander if Telecom will change the covers for the metal covers in the footpaths with their new name? The don't change them when they do logo changes but I wander if they will with a name change...

Please stay on topic folks. This discussion is on plan changes, not coverage issues or rebranding.

Cheers

In their text what does "plus calls are charged by the minute from 1 Sept" mean? If you make a 1m 20s call what will it count for against your plan? What did it count for before?

It will count for 2 minutes. Pretty sure it was charged per second after the first minute previously.

Is this meant to be an advantage or disadvantage for customers? I guess that's one reason they need to increase the minutes in each plan, because they're effectively taking some away.
