A friend has just swapped out his computer and connected it to his Spark DSL internet connection in this manner -

Telephone jack to splitter, splitter to modem/router, router (one of the spare LAN ports) to computer.

No internet!

I'm not au fait with DSL, so any ideas would be appreciated.   I assume that no static IP or gateway/DNS addresses are necessary?

have you been through the self help on the spark website?

you havent mentioned what modem it is

I understand the owner went through the little instruction booklet, and all appropriate lights are up.

I'll find out the make/model of modem and look at Spark site before visitng site myself tomorrow.

Could be no data transfer.
DSL light solid? Internet light flashing?

make sure the lan cable is pushed in fully on both sides of the cable :P

UPDATE:  Took a look at machine and found that there was network connection ... ran the Network Setup Wizard, and away it went ! laughing
