I have a work colleague that has ADSL with Spark and a modem/router that is apparently 'at least' 5 years old.
Apparently it doesnt have wifi built in - so it must be reasonably old.

She wants to stay with Spark and wants to have wifi available.

Do Spark provide customers with upgrades to wifi enabled routers?
Do you have to buy or will they do a 'sign again for 12 months and we will give it for free' sort of deal.

Customer retention calls seem prioritised by all ISP's, just ring and ask?

They are usually happy to oblige in exchange for a contract period. As above, give them a call. The worst thing that could happen is they say "no", so nothing to lose.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Relatives got a new one last year after signing to a new 12 month contract.

Alternatively if she is in UFB ready area could upgrade to that, or VDSL.

I know of several people who were able to get a new free router by re-signing for 12 months. They will also sell the HG630b for only $149 if you don't want to enter a contract. Be aware it does not have Gigabit LAN ports, only 100Mbps.

If you don't want to sign up for a year you will find plenty of All in ones handed out by ISP's on TM for $40-50.

We got a new modem for nothing when signing to a 12 month VDSL contract with Spark after our old ADSL modem died. Stayed on the same plan as we were before too so worked out really good.

If you use online chat they can normally sort you out. That's the least painful process to get a new modem IMHO.

Thanks for the advice. I will pass it on. Probably worth her giving spark a nudge.
