I have just been upgraded by Spark/Chorus from a Thomson router to the Huawei HG630b router for VDSL and have been unable to get the port forwarding working. I have

followed the instructions to the letter. I am trying to port forward port 21 to my FTP Server (which has a static IP address), and also to two IP cameras. I am unable

to connect to any devices from outside of my network. It worked fine with the Thomson router and I haven't changed anything on my network. When I run the GRC.com

'Shields Up' port scanner. It shows these ports as hidden. I've tried turning off my PC firewalls (although this shouldn't affect anything as the ports are being

opened on the router). I have also turned off the HG630b firewall.

If I turn on the HG630b FTP Server from ADVANCED > USB PORT > FTP SERVER and run a custom probe of port 2121 from GRC, it shows the port as open. This tells me the

HG630b is capable of opening ports. I then changed the port mapping of my FTP Server configuration in ADVANCED > NAT > PORT MAPPING to port 2121 to see if this could

be probed. GRC couldn't find it. I tried entering my router external IP address (125.237.xxx.xxx) in the 'Remote Host' port, but that didn't work. All of the above

tests lead me to think there is something within the HG630b which prevents it from opening ports. I have the latest firmware version in the router.

Router details
----------------
Product Name  HG630b
Product Serial Number  S8G8W14515004080
Hardware version  AM1HG630M01VER.A
Software version  V100R001C55B017
Batch number  BC55P0.017.A2pv6F037g.d24b1

I would appreciate any advice or success stories from anyone who has successfully set up port forwarding on the Huawei HG630b.

I have solved my problem. It was operator error. The 'Interface' setting in the Port Mapping page was set for 'TNZ_ADSL' as opposed to 'TNZ_VDSL'. Sometime you look and look at a problem and just cannot see the wood for the trees. Go away for a few days and come back with a fresh mind.
