subaruWRX01: Cheers guys we got the chorus tech  to come today same person .. looked very lazy .. but it was done ..  VDSL dedicated  jack wasnt the neatest also used white electrical tape to fully locked down the jack housing as he couldnt get it to tighten up properly made small hole from the existing jack to stretch  out 2  wires (can be seen)  into the vdsl jack .. Master splitter was inserted into the ept .. sync rates has improved

Line standard VDSL2 Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 39088 Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 10332 Downstream SNR (dB)  12.2 Upstream SNR (dB)  17.5 Downstream line attenuation (dB) 13.9 Upstream line attenuation (dB) 29.8 Downstream output power (dBmV) 13.5 Upstream output power (dBmV) 2.9 Downstream CRC 23 Upstream CRC 1 Downstream FEC 1164 Upstream FEC 471

Good improvement in your stats - sounds like a No. 8 fence wire fix smile

What actual speeds can you get now?  (https://www.speedtest.net - Spark server, Ethernet)

Going from 36 to 39 Mbps isn't really *that* much of a difference. Less than 10%. Not really noticeable in day to day usage.

Just goes to show why some ISPs don't want to cough up $300 to install a master filter for every single vdsl connection when the impact can be as low as this.

Do remember to consider things such as error rates though. Likely an improvement was made there... Raw speed is not everything!

joshhill96: Mine up here in Kerikeri took about a few days since first request, a guy comes to the house has a look at what you already have (With the supplied VDSL/Gigabit modem already installed) and then goes to the cabinet on the street and makes a few adjustments then all good to go, I still have the filter installed for the landline. The speeds I get with VDSL with filter installed are much faster than the standard fibre 30/10 plans and that's with a filter installed, There has been no drop outs or slow in speeds since and that has been since October last year!

How close is the cabinet?  If it is nearby then maybe you have a strong VDSL signal - in which case you would get good VDSL speeds regardless of whether you had a master filter or not. smile

Very close, about 40m
