Hi - wondering if anyone experience the same. I recently noticed that some emails that I keep inside the inbox are disappear. I can't find them anywhere!!!!
Is there a setting that I need to check ?

Is the Inbox on the webmail or on an email client (Outlook, Windows Mail, etc)?

theres a hack tool that can show stored browser passwords and of course theres keyloggers that
virus scanners wont detect. do you trust everyone in your house? of course it might be some
outside your home thats gotten access too?

did you check the last login list.. I recall it used to show last 5 login times and locations
bit like FB etc

I suspect someone has access to your email and has deleted the messages

Im sure deleted message go to the deleted folder but they could of emptied that.

Ive never had emails vanish from inbox myself.

Happened to a friend when someone in the house added a new cellphone and it chose to set it up as pop3.

Dont jump to the conclusions that something bad is going on.

This. Check in the email account settings on any phone, computer/laptop and see if it is told to remove emails from server after downloading them or if a certain amount of days have passed.

yes setting up email access and not ticking leave on server will do it
so check all devices inboxes

but again checking the logs for login might pin when it happened
and if its not your devices then someone has access

Pop3 client would download all, not "some", unless it was cancelled part way through

Mad engineer, unless your pop client is like pop peeper where it downloads only the headers
(like imap does)

(used it since dialup days where net was slow and big emails of 20mb were a killer)

but most tablet apps have option to delete emails downloaded or leave on the server
after downloaded.

theres a setup guide on spark for pop email setup on android etc shows where
the options are..

oh, for sure ...

@littlegiant, from the gmail webpage when looking at your inbox, look to the right hand side for "Last account activity: x minutes ago" and click "Details" that appears under that.  You'll be given a list of activity indicating what devices have been accessing your account.  Should help

Thanks for the responses.

Not sure was this part of the XTRA mail that Spark had problem with the other or not.

Just remember that I had this account set up with the mail client in my mac, do you guys think this could cause it ?

oh a apple user :D

real newbie then.

clearly didnt understand the replies.

you need to make it more clearer..

if you have it setup on mac sure it will download emails when its loaded there
espc if it sits in the bottom bar.. most things will auto check inbox every 10 mins by default
have you got it loaded on another device..?
check all devices where you use email and see if the message delete is on any of their inboxes

if only accessing web mail via all devices then no.. they all access the same account
and since its browser youre looking at the same inbox so shouldnt vanish

unless someome accessed your browser logged in on any of the other devices and delete it.

again check logs and security settings if thats not the case.

For what it is worth, I recently have had issues with apple mail. Which version of osx are you using?
It is well documented on the apple forums about an issue with apple mail where inbox messages dissapear or the inbox doesnt load at all. This has happened to me recently (after upgrading the OSX version). 

A place to start would be to 're-index' and/or 'rebuild' your inbox and mail boxes within apple mail. Have you created any "smart mail boxes" and or "folders" within apple mail?
(sorry dont have much time to provide you with a step by step on how to do this but you can quickly learn by searching the help and/or forums for apple mail on the apple forums. 

After I had removed some smart mail boxes (of course moving the messages elsewhere first) and rebuilding/re-indexing the inbox and each folder, the problems went away. 
I also spent time having a good clean up and deleted messages and attachments that were no longer needed).  Nowdays, I only seem to have the odd issue if I goto launch mail when I already have a safari window open with java and / or flash running on a webpage OR Adobe Reader is launched (but it could just be coincidence). 

EDIT: I use apple mail for POP (Ihug) and IMAP (Outlook and Gmail). I now recall that the IMAP mail boxes were the most problematic. 

Question: do you ever simply leave apple mail running for a wee while after you have checked email etc (it pays to as it sits there running processes against the IMAP accounts. To view, simply click on (when in apple mail) "window" then "activity" and you will see what apple mail is doing.

not the mail package
