Last night smtp.officemail.co.nz stopped working for outgoing email.  The Spark helpdesk has told me that the service is no longer supported but I could register other domain email addresses on Yahoo Mail.  This has worked but while I can set the reply-to address for the domain I want, the email still now is shown as coming from an xtra.co.nz address.

My email hosting is currently with another provider which has similar SMTP issues which is why as a Spark customer I was quite happy using their Officemail service.

Any recommendations please for other email providers (POP, SMTP) where my emails will appear as coming from my own domain?

I'm surprised it worked for as long as it did!

smtp2go is a great service and is what I would use if no other SMTP server was available. The other thing I would say is that if your current mail provider can't provide a decent outbound server then it's time for a new host!

AuthSMTP is another good service, or just use Google Apps / Fastmail.

This is a big issue for us as we suddenly got 40 or so Spark Business customers asking us why they could no longer scan to email. We can't just setup a SMTP server for each customer either as Port 25 is blocked for a mandatory 2 day waiting period.

Didn't Spark start notifying mid last year that the officemail service was going to be discontinued at the end of 2015? Seem to recall even a thread or two on here about it. I believe it's been replaced by Spark Business Mail as an offering.

I think they only notified customers that paid to use it as a full mail server, not people who just wanted to keep Spark as an ISP after they dropped support for printers on their main SMTP service.

Smtp2go has a free option for low volume (may not work for that application) which uses port 2525 and setup was quick. Probably not best option for you but at least an option.

Scan to email is a stupid thing anyway. Any decent copier has scan to network drive which will give a much much better experience and relies on nothing but the local network.

A raspberry pi and a gmail account and you can have your own precanned smtp server.

Heck you may even get away with a low end router that can run a smtp daemon.
