I hope someone can help me but I am not sure what forum this should be in.

I have changed ISP from Spark to 2Degrees.

Spark have disabled my xtra email. I have paid to keep it up for a month so  I can set up a new email account.

I was using outlook express as my main email program with xtra.

I have set up a Gmail account but I am having trouble linking it with outlook. Is it even possible?

I have followed all the directions but cannot get outlook to send and receive. It keeps asking for password which is entered and correct but for no result.

What am i doing wrong?

How can I ensure all my contacts are aware of my new email address?

Any advice would be great!!!

Cheers

Have you enabled POP/IMAP access under Gmail settings?

If you set up a new email address your best bet for free email is outlook.com as it supports EAS meaning it integrates very well with any Activesync capable devices or software including Outlook.

For a start I would go IMAP.  Second point is that Outlook and Gmail don't play nice.  Even the latest mail app which is supposed to work OK doesn't.  We have changed to Thunderbird for Gmail, or just use the web interface.

I've fixed this for a number of clients this week - looks like gmail has made a change.

Go to google login click on your name then my account

Go to the sign-in and security link then click the slider to allow 'less secure apps' outlook is considered a less secure app

I've used Outlook with gmail accounts for years. Follow both the suggestions and it should run fine:

This change occurred many months ago.
