I am waiting   for my fiber connection in Woodridge area,  Already   given   the account no and   phone and other details,  but   no date has been given   for the installation,  waiting for weeks now,    I wrote to spark,  did not get reply yet.  I heard  that local fiber co need to give the connection,    chorus used  to be the local Fiber co,  but I heard that this area was given to visionstream, 

 

I  have  no idea whom to contact now,  any idea how to contact visionstrem?

You go through Spark as you're one of their customers, you don't have a relationship with Chorus/Visionstream/Downer/whoever.

Chorus are the fibre provider. Visuonstream are one of several contractors who do UFB installs.

You have no relationship with either. Your RSP is your point of contact.

I assume you're aware of lead times for UFB installs at present due to massive workloads? If your install is deemed complex you could realistically be anywhere from weeks to months away from your install being complete.

I'm assuming you haven't simply called Spark to ask?

I don't know what the exact numbers are, but every time Chorus liven up another UFB cabinet there are another 300 potential UFB connections added to NZ's total. They are doing at least several cabinets a month, nation wide.

 

Until this reaches a peak, the potential wait times are bound to keep increasing somewhat. Assuming more installers aren't contracted to do the work.

You probably mean they're living up multiple nodes every day across the country, so yes, the available customer base is increasing significantly. The number of new UFB orders per day nearly hit 1000 in per day in December which was the last published stats. I've heard it's well in excess of this now.

Are you on an exclusive (yours only) access way? Or do you share it with others? 

 

If you share your driveway with others, Chorus will write to the others and ask for their consent to install the fibre and be able to provide ongoing maintenance. If anyone says no or simply fails to reply, then it will time out and eventually Spark will cancel your order - usually via email.  At that point, you start over. 

 

If you are on a shared access way, do yourself a favour and go talk to the OWNERS / property managers (not a tenant - they can't authorise anything) and see if you can get them to go online and do the consent with the reference in the letter they got from Chorus. Or print the consent form off yourself from the Chorus web site and get your neighbours to sign it (owners / agents only, of course). 

 

If you have no shared access issues, then it will be much easier and simply be a matter of when they can schedule you in - assuming you don't have a 200m access way or anything difficult or expensive. 

 

Why the government didn't make network access an essential service - like phone and water - and mandate a right of access, I have no idea. It's hugely wasteful the way they have done it.

For new new UFB installs id suggest signing up with a small nz based RSP, they tend to give far better customer service and will actually tell you exactly what chorus is telling them keeping you in the loop as to what's happening, I don't think you'd get this from a call center in Manila. PlaNet now owed by kiwilink is one example I delt with for my UFB install back in Dec 2012, very good customer service and very quick to respond to emails, forwarding chorus info to me. They were slightly more expensive though and I stayed with them for a year before being lured over to Spark.

 My house is in New development,  there are  around 10 houses being built  and ready   for connection next couple of months,  cables already been done to every property,  only  need to blow the fiber  from cabinet and do connection. My house is the   first  to be completed and moved in,  others will follow soon. No access problem,  and no need any consents, facing to the road. I will call  them tomorrow.
