Have played around with one of these on an Ethernet PPPoE connection (equivalent to a Bigpipe UFB line). Got 2talk working on it. Going from memory all that needed to be done was a VoIP provider set up with the 2talk SIP info, a line with the user and password created, and Voice needed to be ticked on the internet options.

You, sir, are both a gentleman and a scholar. Bingo.  There is indeed a little checkbox for voice under the "edit" button under internet settings. Thank you kindly, that would also explain why the logs weren't shown anything. Doh.

Just noticed this today. It's good to have the option there for those who want it. The HG659 is provided by Spark and Vodafone also and actually seems like a decent modem, it works for all plans and is available to new customers for $99.

"New customers only.  Buy or BYO modem"

LOL. how to BYO a modem you pay $99 for?
