No, not really. If you run out of prepaid credit during the outage, your phone will still be able to make calls as normal, BUT: when you next top up after the outage, the value of all calls made during the outage will then be debited from the amount you are topping up by. So it's not free - it's just essentially delayed billing for that period.

 

 

You are assuming that the sim is ever going to be topped up again. Go for it and then come monday bin the sim and buy another.

 

 

That could be inconvenient as you would have to tell everyone  your new cell number .  Way easier to port the number..

Exxxactly. If this is the case, then it further reinforces Xpd's point about the very poor communication. And, regardless, the fact that this is up in the air is unacceptable. But in the world of Old3eyes, apparently this is just some silly crusade.

From the link in opening post, looks like value packs roll over normally as long as enough credit on phone. If not enough credit then it's casual rate charges.

What about my Prepaid Value Pack?
If you have enough balance on your mobile, your Prepaid Value Pack will roll over as usual. If you didn’t get a chance to top up before the upgrade, you’ll have an extra day to top up and keep your Value Pack in place once the system is up and running. Any calls or texts made between the time your Value Pack expires and your top up will be charged at casual rates.


Guessing data would be treated same as calls and texts.

That's pretty disgusting, it should retrospectively apply to the pack you buy at the end of outage, not casual rates.

Looking at the Spark android app, there seems to be more useful information on it now, like clarity of when one's allowance ends.  Whoops, it is offline again for maintenance!

Not going to well for me.

 

The usage app doesn't work. It can't tell me anything...what plan I'm on, my minutes, data usage etc.

 

Also my usage notifications are not working. So I'm in the dark about any usage.

 

Also the call centre for moves add changes is horrible now. Wait time seems to be about an hour whenever I call. At first I thought it would be from a backlog of jobs while the system was offline, but even tonight I still can't get through quickly.

 

My callback seems to have failed.

 

When I asked the CSR how it was going, she admitted the new system was crashing a lot.

 

I'd imagine these are just teething problems, and it will get sorted, and be much improved. Right now it sucks.

Wonder if spark cheaped out on capacity, surly they would have built the system to 150% so to speak, guess not right now Vodafone don't look that bad.......
