So it appears existing customers cant move without losing their current accumlated rollover minutes and data?

 

Thought it was worth moving - even if it cost a few more $ per year - but not if I cant keep my current accumulated minutes and data. frown

What steps?

 

Did you just buy a new combo package and then cancel the old one?

 

I could imagine not doing things in the right order could cause a problem.....

Just buy a new one, it will automatically cancel the old one as you can't have two combos at the same time

Ah - so just need to wait until the last couple of days of muy old package and buy a new one - ok - good to know. (and change the auto topup!)

 

They should add that to their FAQs.

I actually changed to the new combo's this morning before I saw this thread - I didn't know they were only released today. From just reading their website I knew that changing plans you keep your rollover minutes and data, so it's up there somewhere.

These are quite attractive compared to the $19 "Music" plan I currently use with Spark because minutes and data are rollover.  The Spotify on Spark is nice, but as this is not upgradeable to a family subscription, I've recently paid to subscribe to Google Play music anyway.  The 4 weeks vs 1 month things seems a slightly sneaky way to squeeze an extra payment per year

 

Strange that Spark don't do rollover when other providers do

 

 

Hehe, spark owns skinny and they address different markets.

Yeah just doing this on the webpage ( not through the app ) at the moment, and when you hit "select" on the new 28d combo, the confirm window that appears has a confirmation message that your old 30d combo will be cancelled but all accumulated mins/data will remain untouched. The extra 0.5GB per 28 days on my combo is worth the increase in cost over the year.

I'm in once my 30-days are up in a couple of weeks - going from the 30-day Big Value to the 28-day Core combo. Nice work, Skinny.

I wonder how long before Vodafone and 2D adopt this billing system??  Surprized that Vodafone didn't do it here some time ago as they were first in Ozz to do it and the others followed but I see that Optus  moved back to 30 days end of last year.

 

Was going to port the wife from here Spark $19.99 Onebill to Skinny  as she kept running out of minutes every 2nd month as Spark has no riollover minutes but may  wait.  It is handy for her to know that her phone and all Spark billing at home rolls over on the 23rd of each month rather  than slipping back  by a couple of days per month..

Some would say the point of having rollover is so you don't have to "wait" for the rollover because hopefully you have some extra from previous months. If her average usage is below the amount she is getting overall then she shouldn't need to worry about when it rolls over because she never runs out. Obviously you still have to top up for it to rollover.

Surely much of the argument re the connection of the 28 day billing cycle to pay periods is irrelevant for many, in that I'd assume a good proportion pay their mobile bills by credit card. The 'set and forget' system of automatic credit card top-ups the day before our $16 plans works perfectly for my wife and me. That said,  have Skinny changed this auto top-up feature to switch auto top-ups to every 28 days if you are on a 28 day-based plan?

 

I'll not be moving to the new one, given Skinny were nice enough to give me 750MB/month anyway, so it'll cost me more for the same plan, but it'll be worth it for my wife (who doesn't always monitor whether her phone's using wifi or data!).

I always have a $20 topup buffer on my Skinny account  just incase.

@SkinnyStaff Need an updated option for auto topup to match the new plan 28-day cycle. I've had to set one for fortnightly for half the amount.
