GEOMAX:

saw a similar one on facebook which turned out his blocked sender list was 90% full. Cant remember how many you can have.

thats why thats a complete waste of time. Whistling in the wind.
Blocking senders that dont actually exist (spoofed)
Block one (spoofed) sender , another 3 start sending spam .

Its been how long now, and some are still having spam issues. I dont think its going to be fixed for those with major spam issues .
If its such an issue move to gmail & forward xtra email there.

If just getting 3 or 4 a day. Live with it, get on with your life . A few a day is not too bad.
:-)

makes you wonder though that as it is mindless repeat rubbish that no one reads anymore that who would want to drive customers away from spark? If you forward to a gmail account does the spam stop?

Would think so - as it is likely that google will filter it for spam as well - doubly filtered. Missed by Spark, hit by gmail. However neither are perfect.

Been planning on doing this for months, due in part to all the issues mentioned and finally set it all up today (ironically before I read all this thread tonight).

Emails to XtraMail (copy left on server and downloaded through POP to MS Outlook) And also forwarded to Gmail and downloaded through POP to MS Outlook.  Will compare diff this week and let you know.

I can confirm 100% success after 1 week, as I received zero spam messages when forwarding from XtraMail to Gmail...

I received 18 Spam Messages in XtraMail and 8 legit ones.  In Gmail only the 8 legit emails were downloaded to Outlook.  I'll keep the Gmail only downloading from now on and see how things are again in a month or so.

I'd suggest everyone else does this.  You could even start replying via Gmail to ween yourself off XtraMail addresses eventually (that's what I'll probably do).

HJave you checked the spam folder on your gmail account? You might find that at least some unwanted mail has found its way there.

I use Thunderbird to check my mail, and have found that it doesn't always download new mail that arrives in the spam/junk/bulk-mail folders for gmail and Yahoo accounts until I explicitly open the folder.

I still have nothing much to add here (sorry I'm just way too busy and distant from xtra products at this stage)

eracode: These spam emails that appears to be from legit NZ companies - Briscoes, Mitre 10, Whitaker’s, etc - has anyone seen some that appear to be from IRD?

I have received some that look fairly convincing but TBH I’m not sure if they’re really from IRD - but obviously haven’t actioned in any way.
This is what I was talking about back in this post on 11June (fake IRD emails):

Yep, they will get many sucked in for sure. My mate got sucked in on a survey, his bank will refund the $5 postage that turned out to be $142. It will take a month as his bank has so many to work through. Free things from a NZ website that I have dealings with, it must be real.

As mentioned in the NZH story, I noticed at the time that the email said 'You're due a tax refund. Reply to us and have your credit card handy."  Hahahaha - no thanks.

Thats a disgraceful account on how bad xtra/smx still is. After all these years of xtra email issues, still issues , still unresolved.
My god , its 2018 after all .
Sparks customers are being targeted by email scams & nothing gets done about it. Its been happening for months now.

The mere fact that particular department could even spend time to calculate and openly give something back so freely should set of alarm bells.

Especially without you giving authority for the full 5 year back-check to do so.

SPAM has reduced considerably this month for me so xtra must be working on it. Keep up the good work .

Is there anyway to whitelist email adresses or domains ?
Need to stop particular legit emails being rejected by xtra's spam filter
