insane:

I've been using Skinny 4G BB for the last few months while I wait for Fibre to get laid at my new place. Honestly, it's not bad and the signup and onboarding was super simple, no wonder it's such a hit. I've now got the option to change to the 240GB plan - might just renew to that soon so I can watch some HD content again...

That's indeed one of the larger contributors to why its such a great product. :)

Had the 120gb plan previously on their 4G service but eventually went to ADSL as i needed more data. Now that the new plans are out, it looks like a go.

Q - I get give or take 20mbit on 4G with Skinny, have a couple of external antennas that i threw up myself as we get next to no signal inside. Would getting a "professional" in to set up the antennas likely yield anything more? Or are they likely to do the same thing as i did and look up the tower location on geekgis, point the antennas in that direction to get a decent signal?

Will the new modem potentially yield better results than the old Huawei one?

Your biggest gain will likely be CA from the new modem assuming there are two towers in range.

Thanks

Do have two towers, though in opposite directions.

What is CA? Would it be beneficial to point one antenna at one tower and the other at another tower?

depends if both towers support you. Best advise i could give there is check your phone, see where CA goes - Does it hit say, L700 and L1800 on the same tower, or is it possibly picking up L700 on both?

CA is off the one tower. It does not use multiple towers.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Yes, it supports potentially faster cellular connectivity, and faster local wifi connections, plus more.

Wow. It sounds like it's worth paying the extra $10 a month for the better modem even if you don't need more than 120Gb!
