Not your fault at all, but this thread drives me absolutely nuts 
To troubleshoot stuff like this you just want a semi-modern desktop computer with Ethernet. All these old laptops, new laptops without Ethernet, tablets, cellphones, smart TVs - and none of them can actually be relied on to measure the speed coming into your house over the fibre! Every house should have a desktop PC, in my book

i hear ya, I know dongles are our future but why are there still some ports on devices i dont need that an ethernet could be useful, its like when countdown finally do the right thing and force people to either bring their reusable bags or suffer a reasonably large sum for buying a plastic bag, and final plan i believe is to cut them out so your only option is to buy a reusable bag. anyway the point is change management. something we all probably have done multi week courses on. nobody likes change, but we like it less when they dont stick to the plan. i can accpept all or nothing, i cant accept, this half way designed of ports on even todays ultrabooks. only apple (shudder) of all the builders deliver 1 option. Shame they havnt put anything but a dual core and no dGPU in their PRO 13, pro at being Pro bably a pile of smelly fresh dogg dooo doo.
So Im talking with an ex colleague today, hes still stuck on being asked to come in and try and help fix the NBN mess rofl.

He thinks I should go an Asus device like the ac68u
Whilst I was debating this, knowing Ive been out of IP for 12 years and hes been a SA for about that long, my mind drifted off onto these Asus dedicated gaming and media consumption routers like the AC88u with its Aimesh and AiProtection (not realy a need as its TM) and the WTFast game accelerator.

Of course Im just looking and drooling. But the hg659 is a pain in the butt to get right this second as people want $50, $30, or the $1 start arent for days away.....
Getting a little restless waiting. For $50 though used surely there are better options like the TP - Archer series?
