Surprised Spark customers noticed it, would of thought traffic would of rerouted along the other common fibre path (Palmy > Wanganui > New Plymouth > Hamilton > Auckland)

Looking good again.

Looking good now on Spark.
I wasnt home last night, but the wife mentioned Spotify taking hours to download a playlist instead of minutes.
I did notice youtube defaulting to 240p videos, instead of higher, at work.

It's a bad physical situation... Damaged fibre is on the edge of an overflowing river and it's not currently safe to attempt a repair. People are looking at possibilities to patch traffic to alternate fibres. The repair of this break will be "prolonged". (I don't know what that word means precisely in this case)

Cheers - N

The issue now seems to be fully mitigated... Although the fibre cut will take a while to fix we have managed to spin up some extra capacity on other fibres and have repatched the broken paths down an alternate route.

I passed the repair crew this morning out the back of Hunua. A few mobile phone towers out of action.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Last update i had on this one was around 8ish.

A temp overlay has been done, so link should be fully restored.

Yep - we had restored full capacity before that using other routes but now  the locally affected people (a few hundred BB users and a few cell towers plus a handful of business users) are now restored as well.
