Here’s another fairly genuine-looking fake I received today:

FineWine:

Just started this week - new spam getting through to my xtra webmail.

This is the culprit: <info@e.spark.co.nz> even after telling my xtra mail box that it is spam they are still getting through.

The click bait is: <http://nex.soundestlink.com/link/........> with ever changing alphanumerical sequences.

Perhaps one of our excellent Spark members can help ?

Thanks

The above was the OP.

I have just received two from info@e.spark.co,nz - one purporting to be from Spark, the other from Westfield.

.... and the really annoying thing is when I try to blacklist this sender, a message comes up saying “this sender is already on your blacklist”.

So, Spark xtra, (@hio77) why am I still receiving this spam?

I must admit this is becoming rather tiresome, black listing or spamming does not seem to work. Received another one overnight:

Jil <info@e.spark.co.nz>

Subject: For the first time I am on a dating site. What do I do Now?

The click baits are all different each time.

iMac 27" (late 2013), Airport Time Capsule + Airport Express, iPhone7, iPad6, iPad Mini2

Panasonic Blu-ray PVR DMR-BWT835 + Panasonic Viera TH-L50E6Z, Chromecast Ultra, Yamaha AVR RX-V1085

This email from ‘Jil’ is one of the two I received today.

What is the point of a so-called ‘blacklist’ if it doesn’t block unwanted email addresses that are on the list?

I certainly acknowledge the frustration, like you all... It annoys me something chronic.

xtramail isn't a product i work on at all, there is further work in progress on this.

One thing i'd advise is blocking that address isn't really the best idea.

using a company that claimed 99.999 (i forgot the number of 9's) and having people have almost more spam come through than normal email some alarm bells must be ringing in spark somewhere.

obviously they cant live up to their promises

This is why VodafoneNZ shut down it's email platform and Spark should do the same

But all that signwriting on vans and business cards is all that is keeping half their customers with them!

But yes, get rid of email is the best idea ever. Its not like it was 25 years ago where it was impossible to find one elsewhere other than the people that you buy your internet from.

Really?? So what is the best idea? What should we be doing?

So the blacklisting doesn’t work. Does marking emails as spam do anything?

I do appreciate that you are trying to help but this is getting ridiculous.

I'd agree, even though I use xtra email.

people expect too much from their FREE email service.
God damn it, stop complaining about 2 or 3 spam emails getting through. There is NO perfect spam filter service.
blacklisting todays spammer will do NOTHING to stop next weeks spammer .

Get real .
Dont like your free email service. Then go to gmail and have your xtra email forwarded there.
:-(

I'm awaiting confirmation, but looks like the primary example in this thread is resolved now.

Just to confirm, the issues raised here look to be resolved. (Confirmed by @FineWine)

@eracode this does exclude your example, that's a separate situation. But the guys tell me it should be ok now.
