Hi all. Currently I have a number with Vodafone which is on a contract due to end soon. Looking at porting this over to Telecom (prepay), but have a few questions.

* I presume I can keep the number (number portability and all that)
* Is there a minimum time I need to stay on Telecom prepay before I could consider changing to another provider again?
* Anything else I should know?

Cheers
David

There should be no time frame on how long you need to be on telecom prepay.

*Yes you can
*No there is not
*Just make sure you're fully out of contract before you change :)

Haha an important point to note, undecided :)

I was stung with a $160 'early termination fee' by Vodafone for porting my number over to Telecom without making sure when my contract ends.

Like they say - ignorance is bliss

I actually ported to Telecom and didn't know about the credit until my first invoice - that was a nice surprise. And I didn't get a phone since I already had an Okta Touch...

really? wow. I thought that would normally be the salesperson/csr's main selling point to encourage someone to port to Telecom.

Kiwipork, when porting to Telecom on certain postpaid plans (rated as teir 3 and above) or any business plan you get a $300 account credit and a subsidy ranging from $200-500 of the price of a new phone. You may be required to trade in an old voda handset, but sometimes all you need is the sim

Mauricio, I've heard good things about the Okta Touch, what are your impressions?

I have one here and used it daily for a couple of months before getting the Samsung Worldmode. It's a nice device, good size, and quite fast Windows Mobile compared to some others. The one I have here worked fine with a micro SDHC 8 GB card so all good.
