I'm putting fair money on it being a PC / cabling issue to the router.

If you are getting over 200Mbit after swapping to the gig plan using the Ookla Speedtest Windows 10 App from the Windows App Store (not in your browser) then you will have been correctly provisioned on the Spark side.

And after working with @Talkiet at Spark all the issues we ever had bar one was end customer related.

My issue with trying to diagnose these sorts of issues is you always spend a really long time proving it's your hardware and not the Spark connection (this also applies to most other major providers).

A bit of googling and others have been having similar issues :-

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/byrjjo/z390_aorus_master_ethernet_speed_is_slow_while/

So that'd be where I'd start - if the Gigabyte driver isn't signed then Windows 10 will be using a generic one or an older version so that'd account for this behavior.

I'd grab the appropriate/latest Intel NIC driver from the Intel site - I think probably this one which is now 24.1 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22283/Intel-Ethernet-Adapter-Complete-Driver-Pack and install that, reboot, retest.

Hiya,

This maybe of value - From Section 5 - https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=239862

5. Building a bootable USB stick to eliminate driver/OS issues (for the more tech savvy)

1) Find yourself a USB Flash drive with at least 4gb of capacity -This process will format it and wipe everything on the stick, so please make sure you have a backup of anything you wish to keep.
2) Download this document and follow the instructions.

Can you try to do a test speed with 2degress Auckland server see if you can get full speed? I am having trouble to get more than 300mpbs on speedtest.net servers except the 2degrees server in Auckland or Sydney, where I can get 9xxmbps full speed. Talkiet is helping me to figure out what's happening there and still undergoing...

This is the topic that has a long discussion regarding my problem, with test results on usb-booted Ubuntu, a different proven working on gigabit network machine, and all same result:

Update the ethernet chipset driver. Sometimes the one from the windows driver library is naffed.

1st try the auto update option in the device manager.

2nd try the download from the motherboard manufacturer driver download page.

3rd try the chipset manufacturer driver bundle if possible.
