Re band steering - the update did enable band steering which had the effect of only broadcasting the 2.5Ghz SSID.

If it wasn't for geekzone I'd still be scratching my head :)

That sounds like something in that didnt go right.. lemi pull out my modem and run a test or two...

did it happen to come right after a reboot?

Just resigned with Bigpipe for 12months on 100 UFB and appears I will be getting one of these (without Spark branding) soon.

Nice, the bigpipe one is kinda unique. (physical device is the same hardware though)

Skinny one is closer to the spark network.

So it runs a different firmware? I won't get the latest updates!?

Different firmware. Same versions though and 99% of the time the same setup.

Can you cross-flash firmware? (understand that might void the warranty) What firmware would be the best for an "unbranded, fully unlocked" experience?

No, rebooted a couple of times before researching and manually disabling band steering.

Nope. there are certain risks with doing that.

The firmware you get is very close to unbranded though regardless of what spark brand it is, just a bit of a change here and there for the better :)

Where is that new setting for band steering? I have the new firmware but must be blind as I can't find any setting for this in the router interface.

Thanks.

has been in there from 0.12 from memory.

0.14 pushes it to being Enabled by default though.

What is the format/minimum requirements for the password for web browser access to the modem settings?

I know the default is 'admin' but when you change it a much tighter specification is required. Hopefully when I know the format I will remember what I changed it to😬

My 5ghz signal disappeared as well.  Endless hours on ‘chat’ and calls with Spark didn't resolve but found the answer on here. Thank you all for helping resolve.

Apologies for that experience, agents have been quite clearly advised of the change. they also have the tools to confirm this while on the call/chat...

it will tell you when you reset it, is something like minum 8 characters, symbol and alphanumeric from memory.

Thanks. Was hoping to avoid doing a factory reset by 'remembering' my password once I was reminded of the minimum requirements.
