I'm not sure why the previous thread on this topic was locked, but this is a very big deal for me as I have two SkypeIn numbers, one in Auckland and another in Christchurch.

I can confirm the poster's findings that if I call the number in Auckland via Telecom, I receive the number unobtainable signal. If I call the same number from my Vodafone mobile, all works fine.

However, the Christchurch number is working fine on both my Telecom landline and my Vodafone mobile.

I take it that the only way to get a resolution for all of us affected is to lodge complaints with Telecom Faults and Skype. Certainly an interesting situation.

This thread here is active and it's probably best to follow up there.

I've heard (unofficially) that the issue likes with Symbio networks and a possible complaint to the NAD regarding the use of their numbers.

There seems to very little official comment from anybody on this issue but it does highlight a very significant issue where a carrier buys a number range, onsells/leases some of those numbers to a 3rd party who then uses these numbers in a way that is in breach of the NAD guidelines which specify that PSTN numbers should only be used inside the LCA that they belong to.

The whole issue of number usage really does need to be addressed by the NAD. VoIP is a reality..

Is there someway to use code dialing to tunnel these calls from a traditional phone?

I locked the last thread as this is not a telecom only issue, and is affecting a lot of users calling skype in numbers. As you have already seen there is the other thread.

Some kind of reference to the other thread would have been helpful as we don't all monitor all of the forums. Am following the other topic now.

Sorry, I will make it more obvious next time.
