Ive had my Nokia 6275i for about two months now, had no problems with it at all, its a great phone.. Apart from an annoying blue flag (with a green tick maybe) icon that I cant remove. Ive spoken to 5 people from telecom today and they have no idea. I know its got something to so with positioning but how do I turn it off? Has anyone managed to get rid of this icon?

Cheers

Is it the bluetooth icon?  (might be stupid question, but I know several people who had no idea)

What happens when you go to:

Menu > Settings > Phone

details > Icon details.

Does it tell you what it is?

Its the GPS location flag. Look up GPS in the manual.

The flag will go away if I can work out how to turn the Location Info Sharing off, but I dont think I can, which really annoys me because its uses alot of battery.

The only options in that menu is Call divert and Network Feature sett.

Would it have anything to do with the Network Feature sett.?

If you have a look at the positioning sub-menu of the positioning menu, you can choose to accept/ reject/ confirm or have personal rules (no idea what that is). My log only shows requests from GPS info (which came with the phone) and MGMaps, so I wonder if the ability exists on the Telecom network to ask for a phone's location.

From the N76 Manual:

You may receive a request from a network service to

receive your position information. Service providers may

offer information about local topics, such as weather or

traffic conditions, based upon the location of your device.

Haven't found a way to get rid of the icon entirely but if you are concerned about big brother you can choose to refuse all requests.
