I see I now have VoWiFi on my Redmi Note 11 on Skinny, even though my phone isn't on the supported devices list.

Credit to pzkpfwnz over in the S22 thread, but this has appeared on my S22+ and their S22 ultra after the android 13 update. I've turned it on so guess we'll see how it goes.

Can also confirm the Wi-Fi calling option is visible for me on a Spark sourced S22 after updating to Android 13. The phone appears to connect to Wi-Fi calling upon boot and calls seem to work, however if I toggle either Wi-Fi or flight mode it reverts to VoLTE and stays that way until next boot.

Edit: This situation didn't last. Wi-Fi calling reconnects after toggling Wi-Fi, and it works in flight mode now. I made a test call and could see the traffic was indeed going over Wi-Fi.

I checked on my S22+ for software updates and it started downloading Android 13.  It's a large file!

xdstep: Some further information i have come across

Phase 1 of WiFi calling will only allow Voice and Video calling from NZ: SMS and MMS capabilities will not be delivered.

I also see mention of video calling on the Spark Wifi Calling support page, but I wasn't aware that there actually is "carrier-level" video calling services in NZ? How do you make video calls that aren't FaceTime or whatever? Are they charged at the same rate as voice calls?

My old pre-smart-era phone had video calling, and I think it was somewhere around $2/minute. I only used it once to try it out.

I have no idea whether there's an Android app for it (I'm pretty sure there isn't an iOS one).

Edit: I suppose there must be an Android app since I don't believe any dumb phones have Wi-Fi calling in the first place.

Setting up pop up AR art galleries in malls have more story points than SMS over Wifi.

Finally upgraded to Android 13 - a wet, Sunday afternoon seemed like the perfect time.  All good, WiFi calling works as expected in flight mode.  I'll try it at the local cafe in the morning and see how well it does over slightly dodgy WiFi!

Spark through Skinny. Vodafone has always worked on the S22+.

Interesting behaviour when restarting the phone just now. The phone started in VoWiFi as there is not much signal downstairs in our house on LTE band 3, about -120 dBm. After a minute or so, it picked up band 28, which is about -105 dBm, and then switched to VoLTE, which is what I expected to happen.

We're moving to Tauranga in January so WiFi calling on Spark maybe a moot point then.
