TeaLeaf:
Big pipe trying to tell me its normal for my IP to keep changing. And trying to sell me a static IP again.
I told them no and it is not normal for it to be changing 5 times a day.
Perhaps quote the 'exactly every 4 hours' figure - might trigger something in their support script.

Although we suspect it's the four-hour thing, we have not received confirmation from the OP that he's noticed a four hourly connection drop/establishment.

BarTender:RunningMan:Contact Bigpipe. This is a provisioning issue, anonymous profile. I'm sure @BarTender will have a laugh about this.

Only reason I cannot state factually it was 4 hours is because I was not aware of the issue and timing it, but on estimate when actually taking notice via things not working, it was approx every few hours. I always assumed that was normal with dynamic public IP, as I had a Static prior with BP and before that I believe 8 years ago they had Dynamic but not public, not sure on the details that far back. Have stuck with them.
Anyway, BP refreshed the connection and since then the DNS has remained the same, whoop. Thank you to BP and everybody on here who helped point me in the right direction. Hopefully it remains the same for a day or so, if so I will presume it has resolved whatever was causing the problem :-)
Yes ! It has remained the same for about 24 hours. Since noticing the problem it has not done so before.
Out of interest, how long does a Dynamic IP (Public) remain the same for on average, 4-6 weeks?

Until you re-authenticate however long that is
I have seen a connection up for over 6 months before, and rebooted to update the firmware (sonciwall)

Oh that is handy to know. So outside resetting power etc, there is no other reason for re authentication to occur generally? (id imagine firmware updates will be seldom)
OLT Upgrades, ONT Upgrades, Handover Migrations, Grooming, freak outages.... list can go on :)

There is no network policy where Bigpipe will disconnect a ADSL/VDSL/Fibre service periodically. We want those services to be as up and stable as they can be.
There are, however, a variety of network events and upgrades that can cause a connection to re-authenticate - so it won't stay up forever :)
