Does anyone know whats happening at Telecom/Chorus regarding X.25 network?
Rumours abound saying its being decommisioned....?
wayno3579: is it their core network?
I know very little about the telco infrastructure.
I've been told that some equipment that is in-use in NZ will soon not work as it uses x.25 and this is being killed off....?
Maybe the chinese whispers have warped the information
sbiddle: Telecom are ditching all their old leased circuits as they move towards their IP based NGN.
Devices such as PFA fire alarm panels now connect via cellular with PSTN backup and most retailers using EFTPOS over a leased circuit are moving to IP based solutions or using IP adapters to convert their existing terminals (such as the Swift's which are very common) to run over a IP connection back to ETSL.
