Just got this in the mail today, and I was given the go ahead to post:







I haven't received a handset yet, but I am currently using it on my AT&T Pantech Matrix Pro (Windows Mobile, WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz, HSUPA).

Guessing it might have been made back when they were going for a GSM launch in November, and XT was coined after they made the change to straight WCDMA? 


Alternatively they might have had a batch of Telecom branded ones for testing/Gen-i/Corporates, maybe Consumer SIMs will be XT branded?

I am guessing this may not be the final design... At the moment connecting from Johnsonville (and posting from XT Network):



Note this is not a final test - I don't know what are the conditions here (filter applied or not, power reduced because of no filter, etc) so this is just an indicative. I was mainly testing to see if the Windows Mobile device I have here is working ok with Windows 7 and the XT Network.

So far so good...

Here we go, a better result - I realised I was running Mozy Backup online at the same time (copying a few gigabytes from this laptop). So I stopped Mozy Backup and ran the test again:

upload speed is not high though. :-( latency is very high. My Voda upload speed is 330k. Evdo upload is 500k, latency around 180 to 250ms. Latency is around 350ms. Hopefully those will be improved before the launch day.

Is that good? I just got 2.52Mb/s down and 0.34 up using "phone as a modem" on my Vodafone account ... and I'm in Newtown surrounded by flats.

No, not a criticism of XT ... just more wondering what a real world example would be. Say to download a 100mb file, would it mean about 10 mins quicker? Or less/more?

Why do they still make the sims in the big sim with the small break out part? Seems a waste to me.

IMO the sims are too big and a smaller one is needed since they are virtually the size of a SD card compared to a much smaller micro sd...
