On http://news.worldofapple.com/category/iphone-rumour/ you can find this that shows that Telecom is interested.
"On Tuesday evening a strange message was posted on the official Twitter stream for Telecom New Zealand. The “tweet” which was in response to a customers enquiry about the upcoming iPhone launch read: “We are in negotiations with Apple… we are very focused on the 3rd gen iPhone.. we will keep u updated.”
The message initially created some doubt but a report in New Zealand’s National Business Review added further credence with a quote from Telecom NZ’s chief of retail Alan Gourdie saying that the carrier was in “discussions - deep discussions - with Apple”. "
BTW, by saying this they accidently said a new iPhone is coming, before it is even announced by Apple. could narrow thier chances a little bit.. who knows.
Anyway what do you think the chances of Telecom getting the iPhone will be? I'm lookinf to get one on XT but think tis better to wait for a 32GB model with upgraded hardware etc (which is heavily rumoured to come out July 17th in USA [and worldwide??]).
If Telecom gets the iPhone do you tihnk that they will offer unlimited 3G usage? i think this is unlikey, but other carriers around the world have it. I'm not sure why NZ doesn't. They claim costs but why is it so expensive?
I'd be happy to pay $40-50 for a plan consisting of 20-30min, 1000 texts, 500mb usage with 20c megabyte overusage charge. Is this hope unreasonable?
Anyway, lets use this thread for talk about the ongoing negoations between Telecom and Apple. As they have been negoatiating for a while I think we will have news soon (Maybe the same day the 3rd gen is announced on 9th June NZ time?).
