When clicking on TWorld icon on my phone, I get the following: "Communication Failure. Try again or contact your operator for support".
Also, trying to set up an email account. But, Xtra is the only option I can choose from, ie, it doesn't let me add any other accounts, nor delete xtra settings... :|
One more thing, if someone knows about WiFi. I have managed to connect to my home network and it tells me that I am connected. Now, does this mean that by default, when I get home (or connect up to any other WiFi networks for that matter), I will not be paying for the usage of b/band? If so, do I still access net through Tworld?
Hmmm... very interesting... As soon as I turned off Wifi, I could connect to TWorld.
Does this mean I am not allowed to connect to the net with WiFi? Or there is an issue with my WiFi connection? Or should I not be using Tworld to connect to net when using Wifi?
I don't see how this is the second, as it shows I am connected to my home network.
Somewhere in your browser settings and the settings of all the internet connected applications you use will be the option to specify the access point to use for each individual application.
Wipeout, it seems to me you have multiple problems...
1) No you cannot access Tworld via wifi. Tworld relies on subscriber information which cannot be passed via your wifi connection. You can access internet via wifi. To do this you need to assign the internet APN to your wifi connection. Once you have this sorted you will be able "surf the net" but you will not have access to Tworld. You will be charged to "surf the net" but not on your phone, but on your wifi / bb account as this is the account you are using.
2) When you select Tworld and recieve the error, it would seem you have altered some of your device settings. You need to have
a) http://myhomepage as the homepage URI
b) wap.telecom.co.nz with the proxy mentioned previously in this thread assigned
c) credit / coverage etc
d) to be provisioned correctly
PM me your number, device make and model, and the 17 digit number printed on your SIM card and I'll have a look tomorrow for provisioning. Not so keen to help with the wifi as you set it up and there are many parameters that could effect your set up.
If I can't help, I'll point you in the direction of *123
I have been on XT for a few days now...loving the speed!! Has anyone else noticed that the data they are using on Prepay is not billing at $1 a MB until they hit the cap (I am on 500MB so the $34.95 rate)...instead mine appears to be billing at 50c a megabyte...its coming off my 500 as I would expect but the rate its billing at is not $1..I have used about 25MB already but only billed about $12
Ok, so it's a second day of me trying to connect to internet through wifi on my W705a.
I have followed instructions from various sources, including phone's manual.
I connect to my wireless network at home. Little symbol at the top tells me that I am connected to my "insert name here" network. Next step is to connect to the net. Simple enough thing to do right? Not so much... as I found the following problem:
I can not find any internet icon on my phone apart from one of "TWorld". As discussed above, TWorld can not be accessed via wifi. Which is fair enough.
But what on earth can I use as an internet browser, if there isn't any other icons for internet...
Felix, I understand you can't help me with the wifi side of things. :) I was able to set up another account for emails on my phone this morning, which did not give that option last night (very strange). So if that was your doing, I thank you very much. :)
Anyone else, apart from Telecom employees can give me an indication as to what I'm doing wrong?
