scho047: just calling telecom now... and demaniding something to be done...

in the last hour... already lost money...

and been cut out.... several times! by the operator.. and having to wait for them to come back when i call again..

oh this is non sense...

pathetic...


Its simple turn off your iphone and if credit Balance stays the same then its something on the iphone using data. You can't demand a carrier to advise you what is using credit on a device they did not sell.

no but why shall i be paying for the data on top of what i have already done so... and have PLENTY of data allowance left..
you have the wrong point there mate...
if i was on casual rate or dont have data with my prepaid.. then i would accept...

so fed up with telecom right now.. that its not funny....
i was on the phone for the last 40mins... and real talking time probably 4 mins tops... and on numerous waits and holds...
and they are like we will have to call you back tomorrow as we cant help... but do realise there is something wrong as i should not be getting charged for data!!!! when i have already paid for freaking data block at the beginning of the month! this is non-sense...
nzbnw.... can you help me please???

wonder people from main head office near k road can help.... arrgggggggggg

People from Telecom here on GZ but they are probably eating dinner and relaxing with the family right now.....


You may have exceeded you data usage allowance and be getting charged excess data charges or a billing error has occurred.

well i know people here from GZ who are from Telecom has been more than helpful.. they have been there to help me sort out everything to date... so i honestly appreciate and thank them for that! no doubt...

and NO... read above.. i said i still have 100mb circa of data allowance left.. and even the phone operator confirmed it.. and said that i should not be getting charged.. but dont know why... what the! if that is the case then deal with it instead of putting me on home for 25 mins!!

Seriously, chill out. It's probably something they've not seen before, and they are most likely actually working on finding out about it for you. If they said it'll need to be looked at tomorrow, then that's what they mean. They obviously need someone with 'normal' hours to look into it further.

They will most likely credit you for the usage since they've acknowledged there's a problem. I appreciate that you're probably stressed and concerned about it, but you'll just have to wait.

In the meantime, have a search to see if there's an APN setting you can use to stop any data usage until they sort it out tomorrow for you.

If they gave you a case number (always ask for the case number), call up first thing tomorrow (9am-ish) to check that someone will be looking at it and getting back to you.

well i am chlled out now.. at home i am switched to wifi.. so no data will be used using the network and same case for when i am at work... but it sjust gutting knowing that my credit has been draining out....
am sure it will all be sorted out tomorrow...
reason i was a bit spaztic haha earlier was cos i thought it was some unknown settings on my phone with sms... but now i know what the prob is from my end.. and will just have to talk to them with patience tomorrow.. :P thanks for trying to help tho :) much appreciated...

Call them tomorrow, as I stated, there is the chance of "a billing error has occurred" and they'll sort it out, Telecom are really good in this regard.

If you have any email accounts defined check out "Settings", "Fetch New Data" and check that the Fetch setting is on Manual.

...so what was the cause of your disappearing already-paid-for data allowance? Curious minds want to know....

Right, looks like I have everything sorted.
There was a misunderstanding from my part and also from telecom. The way prepaid data is charged is for the first 12mb at a $1 per mb. However even though my data has gone beyond 12mb, but the usage was so intermitten and small, it was not charged against and to date only $10.3 was billed. and will continue for further $1.70 till they hit $12

The differences in the credit was for the other usage I had with the phone.
I misunderstood how it worked and over reacted. :P Now I feel so shamed! haha..

Sorry for the inconvinience I may have caused on people here :P but must thank Jack (manager of Prepaid) to have patience to investigate and explain clearly for me as to what I was getting and have been charged for as well as other helpful members namely NZBNW, NealR and Karen :)

(now this thread can be locked :P) haha... but others can at least see what I went through and perhaps can help other anxious customers like me! hehe..oops.

Hi there,

I have it as fetched etc etc.. but that is not the point here mattlaing
I thought i was getting charged extra on top of my prepaid data option but turned out it was not. prob solved.
if i did not have data allowance and i had fetch on and was trying to find a way to resolve that.. then it should be turn it off..
thanks anyways.
