Its a MARKETPLACE! Who cares what country its in?! Its tongue in cheek advertising. Have you not noticed that advertisements are designed to catch attention, provoke thought etc etc? This ad has done just that and therefore it will be very successful for TCom. Remember its all about brand recognition, and of course, saying that you can now reliably use your XT phone on many networks in countries you couldn't use your old CDMA TCom phone in. Don't get offended. Its an ad!

Seriously, what country should they have chosen then? Given that you seem to think it is reasonable for you to get offended about your country being depicted as having a market place (OMG a market place, Oh Noes!), which country shouldn't get offended by showing that? If they showed an australian market place, should Australians get offended?

A market like that *anywhere* in the world is unsophisticated from the point of view that its not a typical place for technology to reign supreme.
It would be a bit PC and over-zealous in my opinion to suggest that it is in any way a racial slur, and to be considered offensive? Well... personally, here in New Zealand, I am proud of our 'basic' and 'unsophisticated' markets (e.g. Hawkes Bay Farmers Market as a prime example).
It's good exposure for a place like Hong Kong in my opinion, as my view of Hong Kong is actually centered around skyscrapers, technology, and big business. Now I have seen something a little more down-to-earth that could make me consider visiting as a tourist.

Grow up!! We had an Italian car company taking the mickey out of the All Blacks haka 2 or 3 years ago in an ad where women did the haka, and only a few exception to it.....

try asking a Maori or anyone who knows about Haka what they feel about women performing the Haka. You will find there are a lot more of us idiots who are passionate about who we are and how we are potrayed on TV.
